Women in Art II Wednesdays 4/2, 4/9, then 4/30 - 5/28 7:00pm - 8:45pm 7 Classes $300 Please note: Our studio will be closed for Spring Break 4/13 - 4/28. A continuation of our Winter Women in Art class, but with new artists and themes. Anyone is welcome to join; no prior experience necessary. This class with focus on 5 artists who shook up the male-dominated Modern Art movement in the 1950’s and 60’s: , Lee Krasner, Elaine de Kooning, Grace Hartigan, Joan Mitchell, and Helen Frankenthaler. Everyone will receive a copy of the book "Ninth Street Women" by Mary Gabriel, which we will read excerpts together as a group and discuss. Drawing inspiration from these painters’ stories, everyone will work on developing several paintings, both large and small) in their own personal style to create a body of work with a personal narrative.
